Newbury Spring Festival Carnival |

Samba Band!
Fourteen participants from the 'Timespan' project were invited to
contribute to the start of the Newbury Spring Festival on Saturday
May 6th.
Participants from Newbury MENCAP and Southern Archway formed a Samba
band which entertained shoppers in the Kennet Centre (where they got
an excellent reception) they then joined in the festival's opening
carnival in which they played alongside the Pan African Dance
Ensemble; Adzido, The Kintbury May Maids and The National Youth Music Theatre.

The weather was beautiful which added to the carnival atmosphere. For
the 'Timespan' team the high point of the carnival was when the Samba
band stopped outside 'Costa's coffee house' and the cafe's patrons
piled into the street to see what was going on and then started
dancing !
Watch out for the Samba band which will be playing more events
throughout the Summer. More information from this site and through
the mailing list. It is hoped that the Samba band may become a
permenant fixture for outdoor events in West Berkshire.
Here are some more pictures from the event.
