I took my new bouzouki to Peter Abnett (its maker) for a six month service and met him for the first time... and a very nice man he is too... together with Donal Lunny of Planxty, Peter designed and made the first purpose built bouzouki for Irish music using a unique three piece dished back which, still, only he makes - don't know of anyone else that makes them that way - it retains certain aspects of the Greek sound - but is much easier to hold, has a shorter neck and a wider finger board... it's a treat to play and produces a lovely strong, clear sound.
